How to add investment accounts to your net worth

Works for any brokerage — Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab, E*Trade, Robinhood, or anything else. No CSV needed. Open your brokerage dashboard, read the total balance, type it in. That’s it.

Steps

1
Log in to your brokerage and find the current balance for the account you want to add.
2
Add investment account
Opens the app on the Net Worth tab with the Add Account modal ready — Type already set to Investment.
3
Enter a Name (e.g. “Vanguard Roth IRA”) and the Balance you just looked up.
4
Set Counts as liquid: leave it on for a taxable brokerage account, turn it off for a 401(k), IRA, or any retirement account you can’t access penalty-free.
5
Click Save. The account shows up in your net worth immediately.

Keeping it current

Once a month, open your brokerage, read the new balance, edit the account in the Net Worth tab, and then click + Save snapshot. That snapshot anchors a real data point on your trend line — without it the chart won’t update.

Add each brokerage account separately — keeping them distinct lets you track each one over time.
